Having epilepsy or taking care of someone with epilepsy can be difficult and overwhelming. You may feel discouraged and anxious at times. Whether your concerns are over insurance or for the health of your loved one, it can be a challenge for everyone involved.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Central & South Texas (EFCST) offers help with resources and assistance to over 130,000 individuals across 79 counties in central and south Texas.
A number of their programs serve youth, including their Peer 2 Peer Education Program, Studio E, and Camp Brainstorm.
As you search the website and all of the programs at EFCST, note the seizure clinics that are available. There are several throughout the state. An application is required to determine eligibility. Persons who do not have access to specialized medical care are considered. EFCST also offers support groups and other programs and services to address the needs of people with epilepsy. Local support group meetings are held throughout the state. Check the website for the meeting schedule in your area.
You can contact them at 888-606-5353 (toll-free) or email them for more information.
Whether you are a parent, caregiver or a person living with epilepsy, you are sure to find help in this resource. Be sure to use our Find Services, Groups and Events search tool to look for more epilepsy resources in Texas and in your area.
Healthcare decisions should be based on the needs of patients, not their age. Pediatric patients are treated based on their size. The right dose of medicine is determined using their height and weight. Equipment is sized for their safety and comfort.
