Guide Dogs of Texas assists their clients, those with visual impairment and blindness ages 17 and above, to achieve freedom, mobility and independence through their guide dog program. Client services includes specialized matching, training, and follow-up. Each of their dogs is specially bred, raised, and trained to work as a person's eyes as well as their constant companions. Guide Dogs of Texas prepares the dog for two years, on average, before placing the dog with a client. The organization follows the client team throughout the dog's working years and even places retired dogs in loving homes. Interested persons should contact Guide Dogs of Texas for more information at (210) 366-4081.
