A developmental disability is a chronic disability present before the age of 22 that can include cognitive or physical limitations or a combination of both. It can cause certain areas of life to be difficult. These areas may include speaking, moving, learning and taking care of oneself. It is likely to last all of one's life.
Grief can exhibit itself in many ways for all people, including people with cognitive disabilities. Because of the variety of ways a person with a disability may express grief, it’s easy for people to misunderstand it.
