There are several programs in Texas that provide support for children and adults who have disabilities. These include medical and other long term support services for their loved ones with disabilities. This article provides an overview of some of these programs.
As parents of children with disabilities, it is important that we do everything possible to help them dream large and soar toward their goals! Remember the whole purpose of special education services is to prepare them for further education, employment, or independent living.
Post-Secondary Goals in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) are much different from IEP goals. But often, parents do not realize their importance in helping our children achieve success after high school.
National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) Houston - Fall Peer-to-Peer Class 713-970-4435

This class is lead by a team of trained peer-teachers. They have experienced living well with mental illness. Participants come away from the course with a binder of hand-out materials, as well as many other tangible resources.
