The lighting will be modified and there will be reduced sound to create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities.
The Cockrell Butterfly Center will also be open with adjusted lighting and sound. There will be special screenings in the Burke Baker Planetarium and at the Wortham Giant Screen Theatre. Movies will be presented in 2D (no 3D glasses required), the house lights will remain on and all movie volumes will be reduced.
Tickets for the Sensory Friendly Event are the same pricing as regular operating hours. Members receive free admission to the permanent exhibit halls and discounted admission to special venues.
