The class will start on Earth, learning about how our planet rotates and orbits around the sun. Next, a visit to the Moon, seeing how our moon dances around the earth to control tides and other cycles. The trip will then take students to the other planets, where they will learn about mysterious moons and rings that circle gaseous and rocky planets. All material will be presented in an accessible manner with up-to-date photos from recent satellite voyages, and hands on activities with models and games.
The tuition for the class is $135. The Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas has some full of partial scholarships available. The application is available at this link: http://www.dsact.org/news/2014/7/21/dsact-scholarship-application .
Students must be able to sit for 20 minutes at a time. Enrollment requires participation in a pre-course orientation meeting for student and family member.
Please bring a $15 fee to the first class which will be paid to the instructor to cover the cost of materials.
