Each summer, Down Syndrome Academy runs the Circles Program. It teaches social distance and levels of intimacy through the use of six color-coded concentric circles. Starting from the center circle, which represents the self, each new colored circle represents behaviors, feelings, and actions appropriate to the distance from the center of self. For example, a person may hug and kiss members of the family, people in the Blue Hug Circle, but only wave to the mailman, who would be in the distant orange wave circle.
Space is limited to teens and adults with Down syndrome. Students may apply for the summer months only.
Please call (281) 272-5305 with questions and to check availability. We will begin accepting applications for Summer 2022 in April of 2022, please check back then for the application.
