St. Laurence Catholic Schools - Special People In Catholic Education (S.P.I.C.E.) Program

St. Laurence Catholic School strives to be as inclusive as possible given the resources available to educate the diversified learner. SPICE offers students with special needs the appropriate resources, accommodations, and modifications.  PreK to 8th grade.

The principal and Director of Support Services along with other appropriate school personnel, review current academic, social, medical, and psychological evaluations to determine if we can meet the needs of the student.

Two Types of Support:

•  S.P.I.C.E. Pull Out - Students who need more individualized instruction or require modifications are pulled out of Reading, ELA, and/or Math to be taught in a small group setting with a certified special education teacher.
•  S.P.I.C.E. Paraprofessional - A paraprofessional works with the student in the regular classroom to assist with executive functioning, task initiation, and completion, and assistance with accommodations and/or modifications. The paraprofessional shadows the student as needed.
