The mission of The Johnson Center for Child Health and Development is to advance the understanding of childhood development through clinical care, research, and education.
In 2004, a group of parents and professionals gathered to consider the growing needs of the developmental disorder community. Over time, a multi-disciplinary center called Thoughtful House was established to address the needs seen as the most pressing for those with developmental disorders: appropriate healthcare, diagnostic, behavioral, and education services; community outreach and support; and research. In 2011, the organization was renamed in honor of Betty Wold Johnson, in recognition of her ongoing generous support of this community.
The Johnson Center is a non-profit organization that is the realization of the vision of a handful of parents and professionals, based on their intimate understanding of the needs of families living with developmental disorders. Services provided at the Johnson Center have evolved over time, responding to the needs of our children, our community, and to the evolving understanding of therapies, interventions, and needed supports. Offering diagnostic services, healthcare services, behavioral therapy, educational assessments, community outreach and education, and a research program to answer the questions related to developmental disorders.
The Johnson Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
