Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder is an umbrella term describing the range of cognitive, behavioral, and physical effects associated with prenatal alcohol exposure. Many individuals with an FASD have not been diagnosed. Instead, diagnoses have included a variety of mental health conditions such as ADHD, OCD, ODD, emotional disturbances, and mood disorders.
The North Texas FASD support group offers support, resources, and information on getting a diagnosis. This is a free support group that helps parents navigate the journey of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). Parents or caregivers throughout the DFW area raising a child (of any age) with a diagnosed or suspected FASD are welcome at the monthly meeting. It is held on the 4th Monday of every month (except December) at First Baptist Richardson - Bldg. E, Activities Center, 1001 N Central Expy., Richardson, TX 75080
