The Arc of McLennan County is affiliated with The Arc of the United States and The Arc of Texas. Governed by a local board of directors, The Arc has programs for both children and adults with disabilities and provides support to parents and families as well.
Services provided include, but are not limited to:
For Children: After School Care
Summer Camp -- Each summer The Arc offers an 8-week day camp from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm for 50-60 children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Activities include swimming, bowling, arts and crafts, field trips, and all around fun.
Teen/Young Adult Group
For Adults The Opportunity Center-- A day program for adults on the autism spectrum that fosters social, artistic, vocational, volunteer, and entrepreneurial development. The Arc also provides money management, social development, counseling, support and education, sewing classes, advocacy, and a Best Buddies program for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
For Parents: parent support which involves consulting with parents who have a child with an intellectual or developmental disability, helping with school mediation, and providing information and referral.
