For 70 years The Arc of McLennan County has been dedicated to expanding opportunities, care, and support for persons and families impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of McLennan County has organized care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To qualify, you must complete the application, to ensure that sufficient staff resources to meet the needs of all participants is available. In some instances, The Arc may determine that they are unable to provide the level of care a teen or young adult requires and thus will be unable to accept that person into the program. They provide support for the following:
Parent Support
Support involves consulting with parents who have a child with an intellectual or developmental disability, helping with school mediation, and providing information and referral.
For Children:
After School Care
From 3:00 to 5:30 pm each school day, The Arc offers care for school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are unable to be cared for in traditional daycare settings due to the level of care they require. Summer Camp
Each summer The Arc offers an 8-week day camp from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Activities include water activities, bowling, arts and crafts, field trips, and all-around fun. The Arc summer camp enables working parents to know that their children receive quality care during the summer months when school is not in session. For Teens/Young Adults:
The Arc offers a Saturday morning (second Saturday of the month at various locations) social/activity group for teens with disabilities. Enrollment Form

The Opportunity Center
A day program for adults on the autism spectrum that fosters social, artistic, vocational, volunteer and entrepreneurial development. The Opp Center is open Monday-Friday, 10:00-3:00.

Heart of Texas Self Advocates
Adults with disabilities require support for daily living and turn to The Arc for advice, companionship and encouragement. The Arc offers monthly gatherings (third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm) for adults to learn how to advocate for themselves in daily life. HOT Self Advocates is part of a state-wide self-advocate program fighting to stop unfair treatment and advocate for more and better services and supports for people with disabilities to be included in their communities.
