The STAR Program provides individual, family and group counseling that helps youth and their families recognize and use their strengths to address goals that are solution focused. The STAR Program offers skills-based training groups for youth to address such issues as improving self-esteem, anger management, developing positive friendships, resisting negative peer pressure, making good choices, and developing coping skills.
The Safe Haven Emergency Youth Shelter provides short-term shelter for homeless and runaway youth ages 10-17. Through intensive individual, group and family counseling the shelter’s program strives to reunite families whenever possible, prevent future problems and stabilize the lives of young people to keep them safe.
The El Paso Center for Children’s Hearts & Homes Foster Care Program offers needed therapeutic foster care in a non-institutional setting for children and adolescents of all ages. The program’s services span on a broad range of needs from basic care to treatment of severe emotional and behavioral disturbances.
Support for Parents Includes
Clinicians, therapists, doctors, teachers and other community professionals to assist children with care, education, and recovery
Ongoing training sessions based on the nationally accredited “Common Sense Parenting” model, as well as Trauma, Informed Parenting to help children heal
Experienced, educated, and supportive staff members are available by phone for assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
The Center provides each home with a laptop and a fax machine for convenient and secure documentation.
Phone and Internet reimbursement up to $60 a month.
El Paso HOPES (Healthy Outcomes Through Prevention and Early Support) is a group of community organizations that have come together to make sure that young children in El Paso group up in a safe and healthy environment.
Safe Place is a national youth outreach program that educates thousands of young people every year about the dangers of running away or trying to resolve difficult, threatening situations on their own. This easily-replicated initiative involves the whole community to provide safe havens and resources for youth in crisis.
