Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program within the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) for families with children birth, up to age 3, with developmental delays, disabilities or certain medical diagnoses that may affect development. ECI services support families as they learn how to help their children grow and learn.
HHSC contracts with programs statewide to provide developmental services to eligible children. ECI programs include community centers, school districts, education service centers and private nonprofit organizations. Employees from these programs may include early intervention specialists, nurses, psychologists, dieticians, paraprofessionals, teachers, social workers, and physical, occupational, speech and language therapists.
