The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. The Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas (EFCST) was founded in 1993 to improve the quality of life of 154,584 persons with epilepsy residing in 79 Central and South Texas counties. We strive to put an end to the myths and misunderstandings about epilepsy while helping individuals with epilepsy live a full and meaningful life.
Our programs and services include indigent seizure clinics; social case management; information & referral; outreach & support services; individual, community, and professional education; employment preparation services; and summer youth opportunities.
Their Emergency Medication Assistance Program provides a 30-day supply of an individual’s anti-seizure medications at no cost to the patient. Our staff works directly with the patient’s pharmacy to pay for the prescriptions. Emergency medical assistance is granted on a case-by-case basis.
