At Journey Martial Arts, we believe martial arts should be for everyone. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow stronger, build confidence, and develop essential life skills—no matter their unique challenges. For the past four years, I have worked in therapy with autistic children, helping them with emotional regulation, focus, and social skills. I have also been teaching martial arts for eight years, including at my own clinic, where I have combined martial arts training with therapeutic strategies to help children thrive. Flexible Training Options - We understand that every child learns differently, so we offer multiple options to support their success: Inclusive Classes – Students can join our regular martial arts classes with accommodations and guidance to help them thrive. Private Lessons – One-on-one sessions provide individualized instruction at the student’s pace in a comfortable setting. New Adaptive Martial Arts Class Coming Soon – A structured group class specifically designed for children who need extra support. Why Martial Arts is Great for Kids with Autism Martial arts is more than just kicks and punches—it helps kids develop life skills in a fun, supportive environment. Improves Focus & Discipline – Structured lessons help children stay engaged and follow multi-step directions. Enhances Motor Skills & Coordination – Movements improve balance, spatial awareness, and body control. Teaches Emotional Regulation – Breathing techniques and structured practice help manage stress and emotions. Builds Social & Communication Skills – Partner drills and group activities encourage positive interactions and teamwork. Boosts Confidence & Independence – Setting and achieving goals, like earning belts, fosters self-esteem and motivation. At Journey Martial Arts, we focus on what kids can do, not what they can’t. Every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential—on and off the mat.
