Each summer, kids living with neuromuscular diseases attend life-changing, overnight camps around the U.S. - at no cost to their families.
The camp offers a fun and safe outdoor experience, along with opportunities to engage in a variety of activities such as adaptive sports, arts and crafts, camp dances, and more.
MDA strives for every camp session to provide a true camp experience, including connecting with the outdoors, developing life skills, building lifelong friendships, and providing opportunities to try new things. When kids attend MDA Summer Camp, they gain independence as they spend time away from home, they also learn to accept personal care from someone other than their parents, develop greater self-esteem and confidence, and spend time with other kids who understand what it’s like to live with neuromuscular disease.
Each camp includes dedicated volunteer health professionals and trained camp volunteers who meet every child’s medical and physical needs. This team assumes all camper care, including physical and emotional support, providing parents with the opportunity for respite.
Camp is available to kids who have been diagnosed with a type of neuromuscular disease. Those interested in applying to be a camper can choose to apply to either one in-person camp session or one virtual camp session.
