The Beaumont Spindletop Rotary Club constructed nine Super Kids cars for use in the SETSBD races. These are specially built two-seat, dual-control Derby cars. The cars can be raced by multiple sets of drivers during each event.
A Super Kid along with an experienced Derby driver competes against other Super Kids in an elimination format the same as our other Derby divisions. Each car has dual steering controls and a brake that either driver can control. Cars race down the hill powered by gravity and the combined abilities of the two-driver team. The emphasis is on participation and the thrill of accomplishment.
The Super Kids Division is for children with disabilities that would prevent them from entering in the other Divisions and who weigh less than 150 pounds. This is a family activity and requires participation by both the Super Kid and an adult. A doctor's release is also required.
