Accessible features at Texas State Parks include:
- Parking: Designated parking spaces are available for visitors with a disabled parking placard or plate in most parks.
- Trails: Some parks offer trails that are typically flat, wide and smooth to allow for easy navigation. Some parks loan all-terrain or beach wheelchairs for use in the park.
- Campsites: Many parks offer accessible campsites with features such as level ground, picnic tables with extended tops, ramps, and easy access to restrooms.
- Cabins: Some parks offer accessible cabins with ramps, wider doorways, and accessible bathrooms.
- Restrooms: Many parks have accessible restrooms that are equipped with grab bars.
- Showers: Many parks have accessible showers with sitting benches or chairs, grab bars, handheld shower heads and/or accessible shower heads.
- Picnic Areas: Many parks offer picnic areas with tables designed for wheelchair users.
- Visitor Centers: Many visitor centers have ramps and wide doorways; some have accessible exhibits.
Loaner wheelchairs
Several parks have beach wheelchair or all-terrain wheelchairs available for loan. These chairs can handle rougher terrain than traditional wheelchairs. Contact the parks to check availability:
