The purpose of The RTC's therapeutic riding program is to positively impact the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-beings of people with disabilities, special needs or mental illnesses through horsemanship skills.
The RTC's equine therapeutic riding program uses specially trained horses as a modality tool for the the riders, utilizing the rhythmical and three-dimensional movement of the horse to stimulate movement to the rider that is similar to the walking gait of the human. This provides the working background for the PATH Intl certified registered riding instructor with the guidance of a physical and/or speech therapist. Every aspect of the therapeutic lesson is done with or while riding the therapy horses and tailed to the individual rider's goals and abilities.
The dedicated staff and volunteers of The RTC continue to pursue its vision to be an effective leader in the field of equine assisted activities and therapies in order to facilitate an environment of equality and support and has a positive and lasting impact on the participants and the communities they live in.
