The Social and Health Research Center health program helps children learn healthy behaviors through health knowledge lessons, physical education activities, nutrition/school cafeteria information and family/community education. It is approved by the Texas Education Association. Children learn the importance of cutting down on fatty foods, increasing fiber intake, and exercising regularly. This program also emphasizes the importance of going outside to play.
The curriculum is offered in both Spanish and English. The Bienestar/NEEMA Health Program has been designed to be culturally appropriate for high-risk communities and is a TEA-approved bilingual curriculum.
