Camp Alphie’s mission is to provide a place for kids with a cancer diagnosis and their families to have new experiences and create memories. At Camp Alphie, kids (and parents!) make new friends and connections, relax – and forget about their worries.
Kids ages 7 through 14 who are either currently in treatment for a cancer diagnosis, in remission or have survived cancer are welcome to join this camp. The camp is fully equipped for wheelchairs.
There is even a Parents’ Camp where parents of kids with cancer find common ground and make lasting connections with others sharing similar experiences. Parents’ Camp activities may include fun things like bowling, spa day, museum trips, guest speakers, and more. It’s a place to recharge, relax, and have fun.
The best part is Camp Alphie is free! Both its Kids’ Camp and Parents’ Camp (for parents of kids attending the Kids’ camp only) are free of charge.
Camp Alphie is located in the heart of Ceta Canyon at the Ceta Canyon Methodist Camp south of Amarillo, near Canyon, Texas. Ceta Canyon is a beautiful place, with sparse brush areas as well as stunning rock formations and cliffs. Among the favorite activities are swimming in the pool, the inflatable bounce houses, obstacle courses, and horsing around…on real horses! To find out more about the events and activities at Camp Alphie, check out their activities page.
Registration forms for Camp Alphie are available on the Camp Alphie website.
Their dedication to safe and healthy fun includes on-site oncology nurses and doctors. They help monitor the health of the kids while they connect with other kids their age. They work hard to keep the camp medically up-to-date with nutritious meals and rest time.
Camp Alphie relies on donations and volunteer camp directors and counselors to run year after year. Please let those who could benefit from this program or might be interested in volunteering know about Camp Alphie.
And while you’re checking out camps, be sure to check out our Find Services, Groups & Events page for more camps.
