I adore my family, and one of my love languages is serving. As a mom, putting others first seems almost innate. Our selflessness is our superpower. It’s a beautiful thing, but just like anything else, overdoing it can become unhealthy. When we start neglecting ourselves, it can cause our mental health to suffer.
Below I have listed a few ways I learned to practice self-care — some things I’ve put into practice to keep me sane.
I also move my body, walk, or find other ways to increase movement. Remember, “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.”
At the end of the day, the key is to remember who you are. What is important to you? What do you enjoy? What motivates you? Get rid of the mom's guilt and give yourself more credit for doing the best you can. Remember, “If mama ain’t happy, no one’s happy!”
Self-Care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family.
