The Down Syndrome Association of South Texas (formerly the Down Syndrome Association of Laredo or DSA Laredo) works to connect families with support, resources and information. DSA South Texas provides community awareness and education. They also offer monthly support group meetings. The groups give families an opportunity to make connections and share their experiences.
One of the best ways to help a family is to provide family support. What is that? How can it help? The parent-to-parent connection can be very beneficial. It is important for new families to know they are not alone and that help and support are available. DSA South Texas offers information about Down syndrome conferences and the financial resources available to families. They also offer social activities and events to bring children and families together.
With help from Region One Education Service Center (ESC), DSA South Texas in San Antonio provides assistance and information to families interested in attending workshops and seminars about Down syndrome. DSA South Texas also offers parents information and training on various topics.
