One of Jac's best qualities is his quirky personality.
Jac can find a way to make almost anyone smile without even trying. He’s an overall happy guy. He smiles and laughs while he repeats his favorite movie or TV lines. It may take us an extra 10-15 minutes to get out the door some mornings because he's dancing or singing. He's usually in a pretty good mood.
The problem typically comes when Jac grabs for his backpack or the hat hanging by the door, which reminds him of the many accessories he can put on to jazz up his wardrobe. Now that he’s older, we’ve been able to explain and convince him that he cannot wear his Harry Potter robe and other costumes to school.
Recently we had a conversation about not getting to wear his Viking hat out in public like the “Veggie Tales” characters. The one wardrobe accessory I do let slide is his cape. Jac loves to watch a show on Nick Teen with the characters Captain Man and Henry Danger.
Jac thinks he is a superhero and asked us for an orange cape to go with the blue cape he already had. He watched the mail daily for his package, and you would have thought Jac had won the lottery when it came.
Jac put on his orange cape and mask and strutted through the house. Looking at himself in the mirror, he was amazed that he was a superhero. Our superhero wouldn't be content until he took his show on the road, though.
Jac proudly wore his cape to the Mexican food restaurant we go to every Wednesday night. The friendly staff was kind enough to recognize us and comment on Jac's brightly colored cape.
Jac was so proud of himself while eating his enchiladas and wearing his cape. He was so careful not to spill anything on it. I sat and ate my tacos, feeling kind of plain. I started thinking, maybe the next time we go to that restaurant that I should dress up a little more if I am going to eat with my Superman. I’ll join in with Jac and just have a little fun!
