Discover Fitness Foundation

Our mission is to improve the quality of lives for children with special needs, children fighting obesity, and talented athletes by inspiring them to participate in recreational and competitive level of gymnastics. We promise to nurture potential, promote dignity, and support bold steps by all.

Our Vision:

The DFF will continue to expand affiliated locations throughout the City of Houston and the State of Texas. By 2018 providing scholarships to students throughout the State of Texas including three major metropolitan areas. By 2022 be supporting five state chapters outside of Texas serving a total of 1000 children per year.

Goals: Remove financial and physical barriers to participation; Improve fitness level in children; Serve the greatest number of children possible; Create positive peer interactions and lead healthier active lifestyles.

Special Needs:

• Some scholarship recipients within the special needs category could be mainstreamed into both gymnastics and fitness programs. These students would be considered high functioning by their physicians and/or teachers.
• Special needs children that cannot be mainstreamed, will be assigned a foundation volunteer as a classroom teacher’s aide, to assist the gymnastics professional in class control, and/or special activities.
• Special Needs Classes will be taught like a parent/child class when necessary (depending on the severity of the special need.) Taught in this manner, a student teacher ratio of 12:1 is appropriate.
