Special needs Ministry, Colonial Hills Baptist Church

This ministry is open to children of all ages who have developmental or physical disabilities. Any child who meets this criteria may be enrolled and can participate with our volunteer staff in the sensory room during weekly services and special events when applicable.

This ministry exists so that parents and guardians can attend our worship services and be confident that their child is being loved and cared for appropriately. Depending on class size each week, the sensory room will be staffed with two to four volunteers. Our volunteers are background checked and the room is also video-recorded. Volunteers will be given the information you provide about your child during the registration process. Our Special Needs Ministry Coordinator, Jessie Hibbitt, will coach volunteers each week regarding stimulating and/or calming activities, sensory aversions, behavioral trigger, and the specific needs of each child in the room. This is why it is mandatory that children are registered prior to participating in the sensory room.

Parents or caregivers must first fill out the registration form then shortly after our Coordinator, Jessie Hibbitt, will schedule a brief meeting in person or over the phone to further discuss your child's needs and answer any questions you may have.
